Is your GP hip wise

Is your GP hip wise?

Healthy Hip Australia’s goal is to improve awareness, support and early diagnosis for hip dysplasia. We can’t achieve this alone.

GPs are one of the most frequently visited health professionals by parents. They are vital to helping diagnose DDH early. With so many conditions to treat however, is your GP as hip wise as they probably could be?

Consequently, I was excited yesterday to discover that the 2016 national GP Conference is going to be in Perth, at the same time I am. The conference is an excellent opportunity to highlight the need for more awareness for hip dysplasia.

Over 1200 GPs and other health professionals from around Australia are going to be at the conference therefore it is the perfect opportunity for us to spread the message about the risk factors for late diagnosis, the importance of early treatment and how to connect families to support through Healthy Hips Australia should they find themselves faced with the diagnosis.

I jumped on the phone to the organisers this morning, hoping there were booths available. One lucky last one was available therefore I am now seeking funding to get us there.

We received two generous donations today, from our Patron Bruce Foster and WA Orthotist Kevin McCarthy. Their willingness to help us was humbling.

The conference is an important event for us to fly the DDH flag at, therefore if you feel the same as me, please make a donation today to help get us there.

Thanks and have a great weekend,

Sarah (HHA Founder)
