Why join or support the Healthy Hips Challenge?

In 2016 Healthy Hips Australia want to start a telehealth support service, implement a national hip dysplasia awareness campaign and provide a Healthy Hip Kit for DDH Kids to every newly diagnosed family. These are our starting goals:

The Support Goal: $6 500 – to go towards the implementation of a telehealth support service to help people affected by hip dysplasia.

The Awareness Goal:  $2 500  – to go towards funding the marketing of a national hip dysplasia awareness campaign to help stop late diagnosis.

The Basic Essentials Goal: $1 000 –  to go towards the printing costs of handouts for the Healthy Hips Kits for DDH Kids initiative. These ‘kits’ will be issued to all newly diagnosed children with hip dysplasia to help them and their family during the early days post diagnosis.

1 in 20 newborns have some hip instability at birth.

Globally, an average of 4-5 per 1000 newborns require treatment for hip dysplasia. Australia’s statistics are higher. This has to change.
